Baroque Gallery at Schloss Ludwigsburg

Schlossstraße 30, 71634 Ludwigsburg
Open from 10:00 to 17:00 o'clock

A vast collection of paintings was an all-important feature of royal palaces of the Baroque period. The Baroque Gallery at Schloss Ludwigsburg contains selected art works from the collections of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart – mainly German and Italian paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Some of the paintings were acquired by the Court of W?rttemberg.

With more than 60 Baroque masterpieces of the highest quality, the Baroque Gallery has a truly unique character. The nucleus of this culturally significant collection are seven outstanding works by the Biberach-born painter, Johann Heinrich Schönfeld, including the "Schatzgräber" (Treasure Seekers), one of his major works. Not surprisingly, the gallery has become a popular attraction for both casual visitors and art experts alike.

Visitors can also see around 90 paintings from the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart’s vast collection of Italian, Spanish and French Baroque painting.
